Designed for Clarity: Yamaha Transforms the Multi-purpose Hall

SKSS has long envisioned creating purpose-built spaces that reflect its values of discipline, unity, and service to the nation. As the organization expanded its activities across regions, the need for dedicated theatre and meeting halls grew significantly. DAWs, led by acoustic designer Mr. Sumit Babbar, was entrusted with designing the Multi-purpose Hall with a clear objective: to create a focused communication environment where speeches, group discussions, and training sessions could be conducted with natural clarity.

Designing such a hall comes with distinct challenges. These spaces are neither typical auditoriums nor standard conference rooms; their acoustic needs are uniquely complex. Without proper treatment, reflections and reverberation can easily distort speech, especially during large gatherings. The challenge was to deliver an acoustically refined space that maintained a clean visual aesthetic while ensuring high intelligibility and uniform sound distribution for every listener.

The acoustic design engineered by DAWs effectively controlled reverberation, echo, and unwanted reflections, establishing an environment optimized for speech. Once the acoustic foundation was perfected, Yamaha Music India — supported onsite by Mr. Kishore and the Pro Audio Services team — integrated a sound reinforcement system tailored specifically for vocal clarity. Yamaha CHR15 speakers were deployed as the main left-right system, while CHR12M units were strategically positioned to cover the back and side areas.

The system was powered through Yamaha PX Series amplifiers, with an MG20XU console ensuring simple and reliable operation for daily use. For presenters or performers on stage, Yamaha DHR12M foldback monitors provided precise, feedback-free monitoring. Installation and system alignment were executed collaboratively by Pro Audio Services and the Yamaha team to ensure seamless integration with the acoustically treated space.
The hall now delivers natural, fatigue-free, and evenly distributed speech clarity for gatherings of all sizes. With DAWs’ meticulous acoustic engineering and Yamaha’s dependable audio system, the Multi-purpose Hall at SKSS has become a benchmark for clarity-focused community spaces — a hall where communication is effortless, impactful, and refined.
