MA/PA Series
General
If I am using low-impedance (Lo-Z) connections, can I connect the speakers to the MA/PA Series with an impedance of 2Ω?
The units do not support any 2Ω speaker systems.
Can I use a condensor microphone with the MA/PA Series?
Yes, you can use a condensor microphone with MA2120.
If you want to use a condensor microphone with MA2030a, you will need to supply power to the connected condensor microphone from an external power source.
How many VXC/VXS series speakers can I connect to the M/PA Series using high-impedance (Hi-Z) connections?
The table listed above indicates the maximum number of speakers that you can connect to each channel on the amplifier.
This number is specified to allow 20% of headroom for the rated output, and to prevent the total speaker impedance from falling below the minimum impedance of the amplifier.
You can connect the MA Series to the PA Series to increase the number of output channels and drive more speakers.
Note:
The numbers in this table are recommended values. Yamaha is not responsible for problems caused by the information that appears in this table.
For more information on the detailed specifications, please refer to the specification chart on our website, or the latest user manual.
How to place the device(s) on a table?
This device has ventilation holes at the top bottom/sides to prevent the internal temperature from becoming too high.
Make sure that there is adequate space around the device: at least 10 cm above, 1 cm below the bottom surface (rubber feet provide adequate space), and 10 cm behind.
How to install MA/PA Series on an EIA standard rack?
If you are mounting the MA /PA Series along with other devices, be sure to keep 1U space above and below between the units and other devices. Also, keep the space between them well ventilated by installing a ventilation panel or leaving the space open.
Open the back panel of the rack and place the rack away from the walls and ceiling by more than 10cm to keep it well ventilated. If you have installed a fan kit on the rack, closing the back panel of the rack may be more effective for releasing the heat. For more information, please refer to the instruction manual for the rack or fan kit.
If the MA Series and PA Series are connected, which settings can I control individually?
You can control the Output Volume,Speaker EQ settings, and Output EQ* individually. Use the DIP switch on the rear panel to set the Speaker EQ. (For information on setting the Speaker EQ, refer to the User Manual or the Setting Guide Label on the top panel of the device.)
*Only MA2120 and PA2120
The DIP switch setting for SETUP seems to be ineffective.
The setting will be active when the power is turned on. Turn off the power, and then turn it on again.
Do the MA/PA Series feature any protective functions?
The MA/PA Series monitor the voltage, current, and temperature at the power source section and amplifier section. If each of the amplifier units gets overloaded or over heated, it will lower the output or mute temporarily, depending on the situation, to prevent the amplifier unit, speakers, and other connected devices from being damaged.
Would changing the ST Source on the MA2030a cause switching noise?
The signal will be cross-faded, so no switching noise will occur.
Digital Processing
If ducker is turned on for MIC IN1 and 2 of the MA2030a and both microphones are used at the same time, which input will have priority?
MIC Input 1 has higher priority than MIC input 2.
What is the Leveler function on the MA Series?
The Leveler function adjusts the signal level so that the output level will be consistent even if the level of signals input from the external devices changes drastically during playback.
To which input is the Leveler function on the MA2030a applied?
The Leveler function is applied only to ST IN. It does not affect MIC IN.
Can I disable the Feedback Suppressor function on the MA Series?
The MA2120 can change the setting but the MA2030a can't it.
Can I disable the HPF (High Pass Filter) for MIC IN on the MA Series?
The MA2120 can change the setting but the MA2030a can't it.
Can I apply Speaker EQ for VXS or VXC series to third-party (non-Yamaha) speakers?
The Speaker EQ function on the unit has been adjusted using the Yamaha VXC/VXS series speakers. Therefore, the Speaker EQ effects on third-party speakers are not guaranteed.
How can I contorl DSP functions of the MA2120?
You can control the DSP functions to choose the set-up mode.
(For information on set-up Mode, refer to the set-up Manual)
To which input is the Leveler function on the MA2120 applied?
The Leveler function is applied only to ST IN 7 and 8.
DCP
Up to how many DCP1V4S units can be connected to a single amplifire?
MA2120 and PA2120: Two unit.
MA2030a: One unit.
PA2030a: None.
Can I connect any controllers to the unit?
MA2120 and PA2120 support all of the DCP series.
MA2030a supports DCP1V4S.
What kind of cables can I use to connect the DCP Series to MA/PA Series?
Use an Ethernet straight cable CAT5e or higher that features all eight pins.
What is the maximum length for the cable that connects the DCP Series and MA/PA Series?
If you use MA2120 or PA2120, maximum cable length is up to 800m.
If you use MA2030a, maximum cable length is up to 200m.
How is the volume control of the MA/PA Series related to the volume control of the DCP Series?
You can control the volume of the MA and PA Series, and the volume of the DCP Series independently. However, the volume level set for MA and PA Series, will be effective over the DCP Series volume control. Therefore, if the volume of either DCP Series or MA/PA Series is not raised when DCP Series is connected, no sound will be output. Refer to the figure below for information on how the volume controls work between the MA/PA Series and DCP Series.
